Daily Encounters

Many native species rely on trees as a source of shelter, food, transportation, and enrichment. Discover the natural adaptations of porcupines, opossums, raptors, turtles, and more through Treetop Trail Ambassador Animal Encounters. Watch and learn as animal care staff give you an up-close look at the natural behaviors and abilities demonstrated by a variety of Minnesota native species.

From trumpeter swans and great horned owls to painted turtles and red fox, the Zoo’s grounds are home to an array of wildlife. As you explore the Treetop Trail, keep an eye out for Zoo Volunteers and Naturalists who will be offering Interpretive Trail Talks throughout the Trail each day. Turn your self-guided exploration into a deeper discovery of Minnesota’s native flora and fauna.
